SPSS is a powerful GUI-based statistics program that is a mainstay of may applied statistics and data science workflows.


SPSS is a powerful GUI-based statistics program that is a mainstay of many applied statistics and data science workflows. It is built and licensed by the IBM corporation. SPSS has many functionalities and is very user-friendly.

Notice

SPSS is a closed-source licensed program. In order to access it, please purchase a license from the ITS Software Store or have your department's IT Group fill out a TSR Form to ITS Software Licensing.

Note

If you do not need high-performance or parallelization features of SPSS, you can use the myFSUVLab service for no-cost.

Using SPSS on RCC Systems#

In order to use SPSS on RCC systems, your research unit will need to provide the RCC with proof-of-license from the ITS Software Store.

Since SPSS is a graphical app, our recommended way to run SPSS is through Open OnDemand. There is currently no dedicated App, but you can run it through the standard Desktop app.

  1. In the Partition field, enter spss_q.
  2. When the job starts, and you connect to the session, invoke the Terminal Emulator.
  3. Enter the following commands to start SPSS:

    [USERNAME@hpc-d36-13-1]$ ${SPSS_HOME}bin/statsenv.sh
