HPC Dedicated Resources#
Research groups that buy into the HPC gain priority access to resources on the cluster and obtain access to their own Slurm accounts/queues for running jobs. We sell HPC resources two ways: time-window and on-demand.
Time-window purchases#
Most researchers reserve a specific number of cores on the HPC by reserving resources for a given period of time. We call this time-window pricing. For time-window based purchases, researchers can select how many resources in increments of Normalized Compute Units that consist of:
- 1 processor core
- 4 GB of RAM

On-demand purchases#
For researchers who want to purchase resources on a pay-as-you-go basis, we offer an on-demand option. For on-demand based purchases, researchers can specify resources in increments of CPU hours (number of processes × job time).
Researchers can purchase additional CPU hours any time as needed.

GPU Nodes#
GPU resources are sold as individual nodes in the HPC. Research groups have priority access to GPU nodes that they subsidize.

Storage Resources#
Research groups can purchase dedicated storage on our HPC parallel filesystem or Research Archival Storage system.

We offer this service primarily to grant-funded projects that need tight integration with our other services. For all other virtual hosting needs, refer to the Virtual Server Hosting service.

Consulting#
We offer both free and paid consulting. Paid consulting offerings include programming, work on special research projects, or assignment of a staff FTE for dedicated support. We handle these on a case-by-case basis. A more detailed explanation is on our consulting page.
